homescape.com Becomes homefinder.com

January 12, 2009 by Emma Sorensen · Leave a Comment

Real estate listings website homescape.com has changed its name to homefinder.com. The rebranding coincides with a new logo, look and feel for US based homefinder.com.

RISmedia reports that according to the company, the new name better reflects what the website offers and what consumers want – to find a home. The decision came after a long process of qualitative and quantitative research.

homefinder.com has over 2.7 million property listings nationwide, plus a network of 125 online newspaper partners and 23,000 advertisers. It is a division of Classified Ventures, LLC, which is owned by five leading media companies: Belo Corp. (NYSE: BLC), Gannett Co., Inc. (NYSE: GCI), The McClatchy Company (NYSE: MNI), Tribune Company (NYSE: TRB) and The Washington Post Company (NYSE: WPO). It is one of four websites the company owns, with the others being apartments.com, cars.com and homegain.com.

“The new name reflects our commitment to deliver a world-class home search and information website,” Tim Fagan, president of Classified Ventures’ Real Estate Division was quoted as saying. “HomeFinder.com is still an unmatched site with a prominent and complete group of newspaper and industry partners connecting home buyers and sellers with local home listings and information. Our site not only offers agents, brokers and builders an ideal marketing platform to advertise their listings to a wide local audience, but also has robust features and resources that will keep consumers returning to the site often for a varied selection of information.”
