Thoughts on realestate.com.au Price Increase

realestate.com.au, the market leader in Australia, has announced a price increase that will come into play as of the 1st August.  This announcement came in the form of a message that appeared just over a month ago in the administration section of the realestate.com.au site.  While the message didn’t reveal the level of the increase that agents could expect, discussions with insiders suggest that the price rise could be as much as 30% for some customers.

A key role that property portals play is the link between the agent and the consumer.  Traditionally this has been through emails and generating telephone leads.  There is now the opportunity to embed online chat into portals to drive greater customer satisfaction.  ContactAtOnce has just signed a deal with Apartment.com to power online chat between renters and agents.  Ed Javier, the founder of ContactAtOnce will discuss how they have approached this opportunity.

Open the mobile phone application offered by a French real estate agency and point your phone at a building along the Champs-Élysées or some other street in Paris. Within seconds, you will see the property’s value per square meter, superimposed over a live image of the building streamed through the phone’s camera.

Speed and convenience delivered with the aim of a smartphone. Could this be the new frontier of on-demand property search?
