zoopla.co.uk has added two new partners to its listing distribution network and hired two advertising agencies to drive an upcoming multi-million pound campaign. The news comes as rightmove.co.uk touts its latest advance in the UK search rankings.

zoopla.co.uk’s listings will now be added to eBay and Gumtree in new “agent listing” sections. eBay will display sale and rental listings, while Gumtree will display only sale listings.

These two websites add to a distribution list that includes MSN, Yahoo, TalkTalk, Sky, Virgin Media, UpMyStreet and Guardian. zoopla.co.uk says this means its agents now have the opportunity of being seen by over 73 percent of all UK website users monthly, which it claims is “a far higher figure than any other portal.”

zoopla.co.uk is also planning to launch a multi-million pound advertising campaign later this year, and has hired two agencies to plan and develop it. Former Coca-Cola advertiser Vizeum has been appointed to handle media planning and buying, while VCCP, which has previously worked for Microsoft, will be in charge of the creative development of the campaign.

Meanwhile, Google Insights data from rightmove.co.uk show “rightmove” recently became a more popular search term than “property”.

Google Insights scales search request data and provides it with an overall popularity score. “Rightmove” started 2010 with a score of 71 compared to a score of 89 for “property”. For the week ending 22 May, “Rightmove” ended with a score of 98, while “property” had 94. rightmove.co.uk says it also beat out all other related terms including “properties”, “homes”, and “houses”.

“As well as our top score for search popularity, our overall site traffic has had a record breaking year, showing that when the UK public thinks of property they look for rightmove.co.uk,” said Miles Shipside, the portal’s commercial director.
