homes.com Features Rentals

Following a spike of interest in rental properties in the US, homes.com has been redesigned to offer a more prominent rentals section along with two new features for home hunters.

The first of these is the addition of “agent endorsements” – a new tab on the portal’s agent profiles where users can review agents. homes.com does not outline how these reviews will be moderated.

A new questions and answers section has also been added, covering topics such as buying a home, renting versus buying, and home financing. Topics can be sorted by state and rated by users to promote the most popular threads.

homes.com says property hunters can use this new section to connect with their community of real estate agents. It also suggests users share their questions and answers on Facebook and Twitter.

According to April figures from Hitwise, homes.com is the 7th most popular US real estate website, up one place from the previous month.

No question the US real estate market still has many years to adjust.

Many home owners are under water, need to jump ship, but still need to live someplace.

Many renters cant afford the needed down payments…assuming banks are lending.

People are also coming to realize that buying a home – actually the bank owns it and you rent it from them – is over rated.

Why pay a huge mortgage – when you can pay less in rent?
