Hitwise: Yahoo! Bumps zillow.com

The latest Hitwise figures show a major reshuffle among the top 20 US real estate websites, with realestate.yahoo.com bumping zillow.com out of its number two spot.

Further down the top 10 list, trulia.com has finally moved out of sixth position, replacing traditional number five ziprealty.com. realestate.msn.com has also jumped from 12th to seventh place.

The top 10 US real estate websites in terms of visits in May, and their previous positions, were:

Between 11th and 20th place, the big winner was listings and home information website frontdoor.com, which shot up from its previous position at number 37. Last month’s new entrant connectwithlife.com also made more gains, and redfin.com managed to hold on to its spot at number 16.

The top five most popular real estate search terms for the month reflected the change among the top three websites. The top search terms was “realtor.com”, while “apartments for rent” replaced “zillow” at number two. These were followed by “real estate”, and “remax”, which did not change from last month.

Amongst the fastest moving websites for the month was free rentals directory thatrentalsite.com, up 26 places to number 91.

29.16 percent of all visits to the “Business and Finance – Real Estate” industry went to the top 10 websites, while 40.12 percent went to the top 20 websites and 69.78 percent went to the top 100 websites.

The average visit duration for visits was 9 minutes, 36 seconds, which is a minimal decrease from last month’s average.

    The top six websites on the Hitwise list for March are unchanged from February, however remax.com has managed to bump mynewplace.com out of the top 10. mynewplace.com had held the number 10 spot for two months, but is now in 12th place. Elsewhere in the top 10, servicemagic.com climbed two places to number seven, homes.com was down one place to number eight, and realestate.msn.com was down one place to number nine....

  2. Hitwise: zillow.com in Second Place

    zillow.com has edged into second place on the Hitwise list of top US real estate websites with a 3.43 percent market share over realestate.yahoo.com's 3.40 percent. The only other change amongst the top 10 was realestate.msn.com switching places with servicemagic.com to take out eighth position. servicemagic.com fell from sixth to eighth position last month....

    The September results are in from Hitwise, hotpads.com entering the top 100 US real estate websites list and home improvement professional website servicemagic.com rising two places in the top 10. ...

  4. zillow.com Moves Up Hitwise List

    For the first time in more than a year, Hitwise has recorded a change amongst the top four US real estate websites. The November rankings have zillow.com up one position to second place, replacing realestate.yahoo.com. November was an interesting month according to Hitwise, with a good deal of movement throughout the top 10. While ziprealty.com held steady at number four, both rent.com and trulia.com moved up one position to take out number five and six respectively. realtor.com still holds the number one spot....

  5. trulia.com Moves Up Hitwise Rankings

    US real estate search engine trulia.com has managed to move up the July Hitwise rankings of US real estate websites, replacing eBay's rent.com at number four. This puts trulia.com behind zillow.com, which is in third place. In terms of market share, trulia.com has 2.96 percent, while zillow.com has 3.94 percent....

    Yahoo, Google, Bing – and all the other search engines/major sites dont make it fair for the rest of the online real estate players.

    Should their sites really count since they encompass more than just real estate?
