The competition between the two leading Singaporean property portals is heating up, with propertyguru.com.sg reporting iPhone app success just as iproperty.com.sg releases an app of its own.
After just over a week online, propertyguru.com’s newly-launched iPhone app has made it to number two in the Apple App Store’s “lifestyle” category in Singapore.
The app, which has so far been downloaded over 3,000 times, offers users access to propertyguru.com’s listings along with a mortgage calculator and the ability to find agents in terms of their specialisation.
propertyportalwatch.com publisher Simon Baker compared the apps and had this to say about iproperty.com.sg’s offering:
“In comparison, iproperty.com.sg’s iPhone app provides access to over 40,000 properties for sale and rent. Users can easily search properties by proximity or a range of different search criteria. They can also view driving directions, loan calculators, and easliy contact agents from each listing page.”
iProperty Group CEO Shaun Di Gregorio says he expects iproperty.com.sg’s app to perform as well as their sister site iproperty.com.my’s app, which made it to the top of the free apps list after its launch only a few weeks ago.
Both apps are launching in an enthusiastic market. Recent figures from AdMob show the number of unique iPhone OS devices in the country increased by almost 200 percent in March 2010 compared to September 2009 totals – well above the uptake seen in other southeast Asian countries.
Disclosure: CAV Investment Holdings, a related party of Classified Ad Ventures – the owner of propertyportalwatch.com – owns shares in the iProperty Group’s parent company IPGA.

I used both.
Both have bug.
But iProperty.com much better. Guru to much abt other thing than property.
I just checked out both of them, some early kinks, but will work through those.
I wonder how big the demand for real estate is in a tiny country with very expensive real estate?
Lots of property sell here. Country of home owners and lots of foreigner invest.
Part of fabric of culture.
High expectations from owner right now.
Using both on my iphone 3g. Propguru app much more polished, but not very friendly for slow connection.
iProp by comparison looks half-finished. Poorly rushed job — how am I supposed to know what numbers stand for what district???
More polish? Guru look old and done by child.
Guru does have more informations on other service. Some like some not like.
Everybodi know distric number.
i like both but iprop better for agent.
Could I please know the association between Simon Baker and iproperty?
Hi
I am an investor in and the Chairman of IPGA – the owners and operator of iProperty in Singapore and Malaysia, and GoHome in Hong Kong.
Thanks
