New Desktop App from rightmove.co.uk

Leading UK property portal rightmove.co.uk has just introduced a new tool for its users: Rightmove Desktop.

The new application sends pop-up alerts to home hunters’ computers as soon as properties matching their search requirements are added to rightmove.co.uk. The portal says these alerts can appear as often as every 30 minutes.

Along with the alerts, Rightmove Desktop displays large property images, offers a function to sort properties by date listed, and provides a homepage that remembers recent searches and activity.

A further feature for estate agents allows them to view all their available listings within Rightmove Desktop – a function the portal says can be used for showcasing stock to potential clients.

“[Rightmove Desktop] is designed for serious home hunters who want a competitive edge when it comes to the latest listings on rightmove.co.uk,” says Miles Shipside, the portal’s commercial director. “The quicker new listings can reach home hunters then the quicker our agents can get enquiries about them, hopefully leading to quicker sales.”

rightmove.co.uk says this new offering for home hunters complements its existing iPhone application, and that an upgrade to its mobile website is also in the works. Recent figures from the portal show record growth in traffic and a substantial lead in terms of market share.
