After launching its own real estate iPhone app a couple of weeks ago, The New York Times has now added more search options and market data to its real estate section.

The upgrades include a new search bar offering filters for price reductions, new listings from the last seven days, and For Sale By Owner listings. New personalisation features have also been added to the “My Real Estate” section including the ability to save favourite properties, add private notes and photos, and manage email alerts to track open houses and price changes.

“These search enhancements and data will provide prospective buyers with the tools they need to make sense of a complicated market and get the best property for their money,” said Denise Warren, senior vice president and chief advertising officer for The New York Times Media Group and general manager of nytimes.com.

Along with these new search options, The New York Times has added data for New York City recorded sales and current New York City market snapshot indicators such as total inventory and median price, each of which can be sorted by bedroom count and neighbourhood.

The New York Times says it is the most visited newspaper site in the US with an audience of 20 million unique users in February according to data from Nielsen Online. Its internal figures also show 85 million mobile page views in February.
