Apps from daft.ie, propertynews.com

New iPhone applications have surfaced from Ireland’s daft.ie and Northern Ireland’s propertynews.com.
daft.ie says it modelled its application’s usability and functionality on the main daft.ie website. A map-based view of properties, directions, and the ability to save favourite searches are included amongst its functions. This video show the application in action:
Meanwhile, Northern Ireland’s propertynews.com has released its own iPhone application, built in conjunction with GCD Technologies. GCD were also behind the rental management software released by propertynews.com in mid-2009.
propertynews.com says the application has had an average of 90 downloads each day since its release over Christmas. The portal has also upgraded its mobile website and will release a new version in the coming week.
“With almost a fifth of our existing visitors already accessing the website via a mobile device and an increasing number via an iPhone handset we were keen to develop a property app specifically for the local marketplace,” said propertynews.com managing director Emma McNally.

Leading Irish property portal daft.ie has now launched a new rentals portal to cover Northern Ireland: rent.co.uk. The launch follows on from daft.ie's previous expansion into Northern Ireland in November last year, when it released daft.com. daft.ie says rent.co.uk is targeted at students and young professionals, and now lists properties from approximately 70 percent of the agents in Northern Ireland....
