property24.com Voted South Africa’s Best

For the second year in a row, property24.com has taken out the award for Best Property Website in the 2009 South African E-Commerce Awards.

The awards were established in 2006 by jump.co.za, a shopping website that allows users to search product categories and compare prices. Over 50,000 votes were cast this year, which is five times more than in 2008. privateproperty.co.za was named runner up in the Best Property Website category.

property24.com currently lists 156,716 properties for sale and rent. In September, the portal was relaunched with what it describes as a “cleaner, simpler and more intuitive search interface”.

“The aim of the new property24.com site was to focus on creating a much easier and faster way to search for property to buy or rent – a ‘one-step’ property search with a ‘Google-type’ search bar that automatically populates with matching place names the moment a user starts typing in their suburb,” said property24.com’s general manager Christo Wiid.

“For those who prefer searching for property by clicking on a map, this option also exists and can be done in three quick steps,” Wiid adds.

“The site layout has been dramatically simplified and there are many more features and tools still to be introduced during the next year, so users can look forward to an even more exciting online property experience.”

property24.com states it sees approximately 180,000 unique users each month.
