jaap.nl Informing House Hunters
December 16, 2009 by Alice Allan
jaap.nl, the Netherlands’ number two ranked property portal, is now offering a wealth of neighbourhood facts to property hunters through a partnership with information website omgevingsscan.nl.
omgevingsscan.nl provides a map-based search powered by Google Maps along with information from various databases covering everything from the population density of a neighbourhood to its soil structure.
Not all this information is free, however, and jaap.nl says it will charge its customers “one or two euros” to access facts such as noise levels and crime statistics.
jaap.nl released a Layar-based augmented reality property search in October and started promoting the use of Google Wave to find its listings in mid-November.
These upgrades may increase jaap.nl’s user base, but the portal still has a substantial way to go to catch up to the market leader. jaap.nl quotes Google Analytics figures that put its unique user numbers at 700,000 per month, while funda.nl’s latest figures, based on Stichting Internet Advertisement information from April this year, put its unique visitors at 2.2 million per month.

It will now be able to include jaap.nl's properties amongst its listings. Recent figures suggest jaap.nl is slowly decreasing the gap between it and Dutch market leader funda.nl....
