propertyguru.com.sg Best Property Portal
November 23, 2009 by Alice Allan

After winning CNBC’s “Best Asia Pacific Portal” award in July, Singaporean portal propertyguru.com.sg has taken out the “Best International Property Portal” title, beating entrants from 105 countries.
The 2009 CNBC International Residential Property Awards were judged by a panel of 52 industry experts and chaired by Helen Shield, co-founder and editor in chief of International Homes Magazine.
Entrants are initially judged at country or regional level. Up to two of the most outstanding entries across 36 categories can be given a four-star award, while the best overall entry is given a five-star award. Every five-star winner’s entry is then re-examined to determine which companies go forward to be re-judged for the ultimate World’s Best Award.
“The challenges for companies entering this year were tougher than ever,” said Stuart Shield, president of the International Property Awards. “These awards not only draw the most dynamic companies to participate, they also help identify those in the strongest position to lead the recovery in this important business sector.”
“We are delighted and proud to have been selected as the world’s best property portal! This is great recognition for all the hard work invested over the last three years in building the business and the fantastic support from our users and clients” added Steve Melhuish, propertyguru.com.sg’s directory and co-founder.
propertyguru.com.sg works with prominent Singapore and overseas real estate developers, agencies and over 8,500 housing agents. The portal says it is used by 1.2 million consumers who generate over 100,000 leads for advertisers each month.
The portal offers property alerts, monthly newsletters, expert mortgage advice, real estate market news, pricing trends, new property launches, condo directories, HDB guides, an online consumer property question and answer service and Asia’s first mobile agent listing service.
Earlier this year, propertyguru.com.sg announced a partnership with eBay, which saw the launch of a new feature-rich property search service on eBay’s Singapore website, ebay.com.sg.
In September, propertyguru.com.sg teamed up with auction providers in Singapore to launch a real estate auctions service.

What is the measurement of ‘consumers’ ?
Hi TomTom,
Thank you for posting your question. The 1.2 million consumers who visit http://www.propertyguru.com.sg are users who are researching or interested in buying, renting, selling, investing in property etc. The numbers are generated by Google Analytics. I hope this answers your question.
Understand that… but what is the real measurement? Are we talking unique browsers, visits or something else?
Let me ask that a different way.
Google Ad Planner gives you 900k visits and 260k Unique Visitors. Now, I know GAP isn’t 100% correct but it tends to be pretty accurate most of the time.
So, ‘1.2 million consumers’ means what?
Hi tomtom,
The 1.2 million consumers (visitors) is the numbers generated from Google Analytics
So consumers = UV + Visits?
Let me get to the point.
The term consumers suggest individual people looking at property. To get your ‘consumer number’ you seem to be using either visits on their own or combining UV with Visits and calling them Visitors/consumers. Either way both are a stretch to be referred to as consumers.
Visits are not unique so an individual can be counted many many times and should not be called ‘consumers’.
Unique Visitors are just that, unique. But a combination of the UV and Visits mean even more double counting.
When you speak of website statistics, I am bit confused. I am a Singapore agent and just receive your email stating 1 mil consumers every month. Is it 1 mil or 1.2 mil? Please help to enlighten me.
Is there any third party to verify these numbers; the one which competes in the rental market in singapore is http://www.rentinsingapore.com/
Guru, yes google adplanner confirms they have about 300k UV and 900k visits per month which is a good effort.
Trouble is, saying these numbers represent ‘consumers’ is a massive stretch.
Let me put it this way, if you look at their site 50 times in a month they are calling you ‘50 consumers’.
