New Search Options at zillow.com
November 24, 2009 by Alice Allan

US real estate marketplace zillow.com has just announced a “faster and more streamlined” search experience for its users, allowing them to constrain search results by zip code or city.
A zillow.com blog post explains the new search capability keeps the results displayed limited to the suburb a house hunter is interested in, cutting out results from neighbouring suburbs:
zillow.com users can also zoom in on the map and filter by criteria such as price, square feet and days on the market. Mousing over surrounding neighbourhoods brings up for sale, recently sold and Make me Move results:
The same functions are available for city searches: mousing over a suburb will bring up the number of available listings and users can click to zoom in. The following video has zillow.com chief operating officer Spencer Rascoff showing how the new search works:
As inman.com reports, zillow.com director of broker relations Sara Bonert sees additions like these new search options as essential to a successful real estate portal:
“Listings are almost so ubiquitous today, they are not a differentiator. The next question is: ‘OK, we’ve got listings … what else?’ “
zillow.com says it received an average of 8.3 million unique users every month this year, which is a 60 percent increase from 2008.
