hemnet.se Goes Commercial

Leading Swedish property portal hemnet.se has launched a commercial property listing service to complement its residential offerings.

The new website, kommersiella.se, has been created to address what hemnet.se sees as a hole in the market. The portal’s press release explains that companies looking to buy or rent have to use a number of different platforms to get an overview of the market, and that kommersiella.se will eventually offer them one-stop shop for a fast, precise and reliable picture of available properties.

As Swedish property portal commentator Magnus Svantegård points out, the kommersiella.se website has been established for a number of years, but in 2009 it was transferred to hemnet.se.

The addition of commercial listings is in line with hemnet.se’s statement of intent for 2009. When a new design and improved search functions were announced earlier this year, CEO Carl-Henrik Borg said his goal was to add new features every quarter. Borg replaced Björn Dietmann as CEO in January this year.

hemnet.se is owned and operated by real estate brokerages in cooperation with the Daily News and Gothenburg Post. It celebrated its 11th birthday in 2009 and says 54 percent of Swedes aged 20 to 79 years regularly use the website. Its competitors include booli.se, bospindeln.se and newcomer boliga.se.
