New CEO for finn.no

Norwegian media giant Schibsted has appointed Christian Printzell Halvorsen as the new CEO of its classifeds website, finn.no.

The company says that Christian will take over the position with immediate effect, and will also be part of the Group management of Media Norge ASA.

Christian has been with finn.no since 2007, and has been Vice President Strategy and Product development as well as Vice President Strategy and Innovation. He holds a degree from Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), and has previously worked at McKinsey & Company.

He takes over the CEO position after Terje Seljeseth was appointed CEO for Schibsted Classified Media.

The company says that finn.no is Norway’s sixth-largest website measured by the number of unique visitors. It lists property as well as travel, jobs, auto and other items.

After an improved third quarter, the company's pretax profit reached NOK 168 million in the fourth quarter of 2009 compared to a pretax loss of NOK 2.094 billion in 2008. Schibsted says this is partially due to the success of its profitability program, which involved cutting 800 employees....
