Nestoria Moves Downunder

Having already conquered the UK, Spain, Germany and Italy, property search engine Nestoria has set its sights a little further away – on Australia.

The search engine’s parent company, Lokku, recently placed an advertisement for a product intern to work on the Australian venture from the company’s London base.

A holding site is already in place, nestoria.com.au, which contains the slogan “The easiest way to find Australian real estate” and says:

“Nestoria is a real estate search engine. We try to make it as easy as possible to find your next home. We’re expanding to Australia soon. Interested in helping us? We’re hiring (in London).”

nestoria.co.uk
, the company’s first website, is consistently ranked in the top 10 (typically around 5th or 6th place) in terms of fastest growing website and unique users.

At present there are no big property search engines like Nestoria covering the Australian market. All of the major existing sites adhere to the portal model with subscription fees, like market leader realestate.com.au, number two domain.com.au, and others like homehound.com.au, realestateview.com.au, reiwa.com, myhome.com.au, property.com.au plus most of the other smaller or regional portals.

Nestoria’s websites make money by charging for advertising opportunities but do not charge agents to be included in their databases. Advertising on Nestoria can take many different forms: cost per call, cost per email, cost per click, etc and are all related to value per lead. Historically Nestoria has only accepted real estate advertisers.

nestoria.com.au will face stiff competition from realestate.com.au. According to figures from 2008, an estimated 95% of Australian real estate offices advertise on realestate.com.au and over 70% of people visiting Australia residential real estate sites visit realestate.com.au.
