Calling all iPhone Applications

October 20, 2009 by Simon Baker

iPhone applications are becoming an important distribution channel for property portals around the world.  Some major sites are telling us that as much as 20% of their weekend visits are coming from their iPhone application while others are reporting large volumes of downloads from the iTunes store.

Any which way you cut it, mobile access to portal sites is coming of age.

The team here at Property Portal Watch plans to review the property portal applications on the market and to help us we need to know what applications there are out there.

Therefore, tell us about the property portal iPhone applications that you know by either commenting on this post or by sending an email to editor@propertyportalwatch.com.

    Hi,

I recently reviewed the two uk apps (Rightmove and Nestoria) and a couple of leading mobile sites back in August. You can view them here – http://tiny.cc/RQRHW

I agree that mobile apps will be a huge play moving forward with a huge increase in mobile traffic and I expect more agents will get in line to have mobile sites if they are going to be linked to more from portal apps and mobile devices.

I’d be happy to hear feedback on my posts

About 8 months ago the second largest property portal in the Netherlands JAAP.NL launched his iPhone application. JAAP.NL was the first property search app in the Netherlands with already more that 15.000 users. With only 150.000 iPhones in the Netherlands thats a coverage of 10%.

Its a great application, when you shake your iPhone the application start searching the GPS location. When the properties are found you can see all details including all photo’s. With one tab you can call the real estate agent for more information or to make an appointment to view the property

Two months ago JAAP.NL launched the same application for the Android.
