Another Agent-Free Website to Launch in UK
September 17, 2009 by Alice Allan

houseshout.co.uk is a new website aimed at those who want to buy, sell, rent or share property without the use of an agent. The website says it provides a “community style platform” and is currently offering free advertisements to those who want to get involved when it launches this month.
Through the website, users create their own property listings and these are then republished on “the UK’s leading property sites” as well as houseshout.co.uk’s noticeboards and Facebook. Managing director Greg Castle says this will mean listings reach 2.1 million users across the UK. For sale listings cost £49.99, while rental and share listings are free.
As Castle explains in this video pitch, the website is based on the premise that agents are “outdated, unnecessary and expensive” in the Internet age:
As well as charging sellers for listings, houseshout.co.uk will also create revenue through on-site advertising and partnerships.
houseshout.co.uk joins a number of other For Sale by Owner websites launched in the UK over the past year, including bethemiddleman.com and TV presenter Sarah Beeny’s tepilo.com.
