UK market leading property portal, rightmove.co.uk, today joins the host of other portals launching a new iPhone app for mobile property searches.

rightmove.co.uk boasts over one million UK properties for sale and rent, and claims the new app is the first of its type by a major UK property company and uses GPS mapping to locate a homehunter’s exact position, enabling property searches which plot the location of properties for sale or rent within the immediate area and beyond.

The app works in a similar way to the rightmove.co.uk site, placing 1 million properties in your pocket. Property particulars are listed along with images of the interior and the contact details of the agent, with an email or telephone call only a tap away.

Miles Shipside, commercial director at Rightmove said:

“Over the last decade, Rightmove has been dedicated to helping homemovers find their dream home whilst keeping the user experience simple and quick – The Rightmove iPhone app will add a new dimension to the way people can search for property and means users can now have instant, location-targeted access to the UK’s number one property website.”

The Rightmove iPhone app is available for free download from Tuesday 4 August at Apple’s App Store on iPhone and iPod touch or at itunes.com/appstore/.

Other UK property portals to release iPhone apps have been nestoria.co.uk, which announced a developer had used the nestoria API to create an app, and globrix.com, which recently updated their mobile website. It follows a flurry of PR about iPhone apps for property websites in the US.
