comScore UK Top 10

Over the past month many UK portals have claimed to have experienced a rapid rise in visitor numbers, web traffic and the amount of interest in their listings. In light of this we thought it would be interesting to look at some figures.

- And The Fastest Growing UK Portal Is…
zoopla.co.uk has compiled a list (which it tops) of the fastest growing UK property portals. But what does it all mean?...
- A Different Story from comScore
January traffic data from comScore still puts The Digital Property Group's portals in second place in the UK, but it tells a slightly different story to the one we're used to seeing in the US. A statement from TDPG says UK market leader rightmove.co.uk had 3.93 million unique visitors for the month, which is up from its December total of 2.62 million. The de-dupicated total for TDPG's network of websites - primelocation.com, findaproperty.com, globrix.com, and findanewhome.com - is put at 3.78 million....
- UK Portal Traffic Decreases
According to the latest Nielsen and comScore averages, traffic to the Top 10 UK property portals was down 8% in April to 8.7 million combined unique website visitors from a figure of 9.5 million in March. ...
- zoopla.co.uk Ranks Number 5 in UK
UK property portal and property information website, zoopla.co.uk, has seen its website traffic rise a further 8.43 percent in the past month, according to the latest independent performance results from Nielsen and comScore....
- ComScore Global Top 10 Players
We often report on the market leaders in each region, but who leads the global real estate race for web traffic?...

Thanks Emma, but please could you redo the list without Vebra and expertagent as they are software providers not portals. i.e. they are in the list because they host individual agent’s websites. I’d like to see more portals.
Rightmove gets hits via Nestoria???, Therefore if someone has gone from a Nestoria search, to a Rightmove link, can you confirm that the figures are direct unique hits or second hand “non direct” visits????????
Trevor, All the comScore figures represent unique visitors to a particular site, but they DO NOT say anything about how much overlap there is between sites. For example, when most people search they are likely to visit many property portals – they will count as a unique visitor to each property portal they visit.
good point trevor also nestoria is that co uk or for the german and spanish sites?? combined and why have you also put propertyfinder network??? ? we are interested in UK only so inclusion of propertyfinder.com. only its strange because you use homes trovit.co.uk .? if that was troviy network it would bealot higher and all other websites in listes have exact domain names
so right move no 1 findaproperty 2 and primelocation number 3 rein supreme propertyfinder.com is not that high in rankings

On a related note:
Are Compete.com’s numbers for the UK somewhat valid for estimating a site’s UVs?
Re compete
Prob at least 30%-50% out in true calcs
Ok everyone, here’s how comscore works: they look specifically at URLs the panel members’ browsers visit. As Adam correctly points out, it doesn’t matter if the user visits multiple sites (as most do), that user is counted as a unique user of each.
PropertyFinder Network refers to propertyfinder.com, hotproperty and ukpropertyshop.co.uk, all UK property sites. Nestoria is only nestoria.co.uk
It should be noted, these are only the highest level comscore numbers, if you are a paid subscriber you can get into much more detail (ie intensity of usage, overlap of users between individual sites, etc)
@marc Compete explicitly states (in their FAQ) that they track only US users. So no, I don’t believe it’s a credible source for measuring traffic of UK real estate websites.
Adam – We were supplied the figures from comScore with the software providers included, and so to be fair to the facts and teh “top10″ in this particular category we’ve reprinted them this way, rather than play with the data too much.
As Ed says above, if you are a comScore subscriber you are able to access much more detailed information and a breakdown of all the portals.
