Not be left out of the iPhone App race, US apartment rental website mynewplace.com has launched it own free iPhone app, allowing users to search apartment and rental housing listings from anywhere.

The iPhone application gives renters full-featured access to mynewplace.com’s nationwide database of over six million apartments from their iPhone. Using GPS technology, app users can locate nearby apartments, map them and contact them directly from their iPhone.

The app also contains an innovative Notes & Photos feature where users can take their own photos and make notes on their favorite properties directly within the application.

By using the app’s built-in Facebook Connect functionality, users can also easily share listings.

The mynewplace.com iPhone app is free to download, and is available for both the iPhone and iPod touch in Apple’s App store. The app complements mynewplace.com for Mobile, a version of the website available on any web-enabled phone.

More than 50 million renters have visited mynewplace.com since its launch in 2006, and the iPhone app takes it one step further according to Mark Moran, VP of Marketing for mynewplace.com:

“The MyNewPlace iPhone App is the first housing-related application that truly harnesses all of the iPhone’s capabilities for smart apartment search. The MyNewPlace iPhone App is not just a powerful apartment search tool, but it also allows apartment-hunters to take their apartment search to the next level with personalized notes, photos and sharing capabilities that only Apple’s iPhone can provide.”

mynewplace.com says it receives around three million unique visitors per month. In May it reached the Hitwise top 20.
