News International backed UK property search engine globrix.com is expanding into Ireland through a strategic partnership with Independent News & Media.
According to Media Week, globrix.ie will be the first free-to-list property search engine in the Republic of Ireland and is scheduled to launch in September. It will be managed and run by Independent News & Media’s digital arm, Independent Digital.
It will operate in much the same way as the existing UK site, by collating listings and linking back to agents own websites, with a team of 12 at Independent Digital selling advertising around the site. globrix.ie will also take advantage of real time aggregator technology and feeds, and be able to index properties automatically.
Media Week says that globrix.ie aims to take 30% of the Republic of Ireland property display ad market by the end of 2010, going head to head with existing property websites daft.ie and myhome.ie.
This is the first evidence of globrix.com’s long-talked about plans for international expansion to Europe and the Americas in 2009.
