findaproperty.com Price Reduction Function

July 15, 2009 by Emma Sorensen

UK property portal findaproperty.com has announced a new price reduction functionality that is available on its listings.

The feature allows users to find out by how much a property has been reduced, through highlighting the property listing with a yellow “Reduced From” flag which states the original price, below the current advertised price (see image).

A post on the company blog says that to activate this feature, users need to have registered with findaproperty.com.

The new website functionality brings findaproperty.com in line with UK market leader rightmove.co.uk which introduced an e-magazine called Property Deal Weekly that showcases properties with recent price reductions of 2 percent or more in April 2009.

Earlier this week we reported on a recruitment drive by The Digital Property Group (DPG), findaproperty.com’s parent company, which is an attempt to catch up to rightmove.co.uk. It appears that DPG are pulling out all stops to beat their rival, but with rightmove.co.uk’s strong lead, they still have some way to go.

Findaproperty new website functionality gives market leader rightmove.co.uk more heat clearly. We will also see as the race hots up with zoopla recently acquiring thinkproperty .Like zoopla, thinkproperty is another web 2.0 aps technology giving more malleability, in contrast to 1st gen web apps, DPG and rightmove will need to deliver more. Think property is under the umbrella of Guardian media group helping it als to broaden its media footprint. What will evolve or the coming months and year is the tug of war between PPL and paid subscription model. I will be watching PPW for the latest developments.
