dubizzle.com Making its Mark in the UAE

Free classifieds website dubizzle.com is taking off in the United Arab Emirates, listing property along with cars, jobs, events and reviews.

Launched in 2005, dubizzle.com initially focused on Dubai classified listings. Abu Dhabi newspaper The National reported on the website’s move into the Abu Dhabi market in mid-June, and put its number of unique visitors at 279,000 per month. Creator and managing partner J C Butler told the newspaper: “Our goals are really to expand it as far as we can take it.”

The National quotes one real estate agent as saying that his agency began using the website as the global economic downturn took hold in Dubai, pushing more property listings towards dubizzle.com. The website contains listings for Dubai and Abu Dhabi only, but promises more cities in the future. It currently lists 33,644 properties for sale and rent in Dubai and 635 in Abu Dhabi.

The website incorporates Google Maps to show the location of its listings in relation to one another. There is also a social networking side to dubizzle.com with its blogs, discussion section, nightlife reviews section, and community calendar.
