ahrn.com Includes European Listings
July 2, 2009 by Alice Allan

A US military housing portal has expanded to cater to military personnel who are relocating to Europe.
ahrn.com, the website of the Automated Housing Referral Network, has been operating in the US since 2004. Sponsored by the Department of Defense, the website aims to provide members of the military with a property search as well as the ability to sell their home. ahrn.com now lists rental homes and apartments near the Kaiserslautern military community and Spangdahlem and Geilenkirchen air bases in Germany, and Aviano Air Base in Italy.
stripes.com quotes Kaiserslautern military community housing director Karen Leonard as saying that 10,000 listings have been transferred to ahrn.com. The website also reports that since May, around 250 listings have been added for the Spangdahlem area.
Jo Cardenas, deputy director of housing at Spangdahlem Air Base, told stripes.com: “It’ll give people a real picture. They will be able to have an idea about where they are going to put their children’s heads down before they even arrive.”
Listings can include up to five photos, and are searchable by number of bedrooms, size, price and whether the property has a kitchen. Housing must fit ahrn.com’s guidelines to be included in its listings.
