TDPG Optimistic About Market
June 2, 2009 by Emma Sorensen

The Digital Property Group (TDPG) has released data from its ‘My Home Life’ survey which collates the opinions of a core panel of 8,000 home searchers across the UK & Overseas. The company argues that the results suggest there is room for renewed estate agent optimism as seasoned buyers and investors with the finance to purchase today are showing signs of activity within the UK property market.
The survey of home buyers actively looking to buy a property found that 40% of primelocation.com visitors have the capital to fund 60% or lower loan-to-value mortgages, whilst over 32% of findaproperty.com users have the same purchasing power and intent.
TDPG’s Jon Notley was quoted in a press release as saying:
“The market is very accessible for this profile of buyer who has the finances to take advantage of reduced prices, improving yields and very attractive mortgage rates. Whilst there might not be an imminent end to property price falls, genuine intent from these experienced buyers underlines the opportunities within today’s market.”
The survey also established that whilst 32% of respondents saw the re-introduction of 90% loan to value mortgages being ‘good news for first buyers’, the majority questioned the impact. 29.7% saw this ‘as a start but more banks need to follow suit’ whilst 26.5% believed it wasn’t ‘going to change much’ within today’s market. Underlining a lack of conviction that 90% LTV mortgage will impact on the low transaction levels, making the buyers with 40% and above an extremely valuable group.
Notley added:
“In the current market, it is not always the volume of buyer enquiries that will boost returns, rather the profile and quality. I would encourage all estate agents and developers to invest in portal analysis software to pinpoint which websites deliver not only the highest number of leads, but most instructions and transactions.”
The Digital Property Group runs four UK property portals: primelocation.com, findaproperty.com, homesandproperty.co.uk, findanewhome.com.

- TDPG Challenges zoopla.co.uk
It was only a matter of time until The Digital Property Group (TDPG) challenged zoopla.co.uk's claim to the title of second most popular property portal in the UK. The Digital Property Group (TDPG) has bought dothomes.co.uk, a UK-based property search engine previously owned by BytePlay, for an undisclosed sum. The auction was scheduled to conclude in October, however BytePlay has only just announced the sale of dothomes.co.uk to TDPG....
- globrix.com Joins TDPG
homesandproperty.co.uk may have left The Digital Property Group’s network, but there is already something to take its place: UK property search engine globrix.com. Associated Northcliffe Digital (AND), the digital consumer division of Daily Mail and General Trust, has acquired 50 percent of globrix.com. This acquisition comes after globrix.com’s founders bought back News International’s 50 percent stake in the business in December 2009. The terms of the deal with AND were not disclosed....
