New Zealand property portal realestate.co.nz has added a new open home service functionality to its website.

The free service offers the country’s most thorough and up-to-date listings of open homes.

In a blog post about the new feature the company says: “just as property search was revolutionised by the web, so organising open home is equally being revolutionised by this website”.

The new functionality allows users to filter searches (before or after searching) by clicking the “only show open homes” box. They can also add open home times to a PDA or iPhone calendar, and receive notification emails and a weekly Friday email in chronological order with all the listings with open homes scheduled in the coming week that they are interested in.

“Location, location, location,’ is the catch-cry in this industry,” realestate.co.nz’s CEO, Alistair Helm, was quoted as saying on voxy.co.nz, “so it makes perfect sense for us to add a geographically-searchable open home listing service to our already feature-rich site.”

“realestate.co.nz’s overwhelming leadership in property listings means we are able to launch this service with a listing base covering approximately 80% of all open homes available for inspection across the country, which is approximately 8,000 open homes in any one weekend. It’s very appealing tool for both buyers and vendors.” Alistair Helm continued. realestate.co.nz contains around 111,000 property listings in total.

realestate.co.nz has bigger plans too – further enhancements of the open house service with mapping of open homes and in time GPS driving details are already in the pipeline.

Buyers will no doubt embrace the new service which makes it easier to locate open homes in the area they are searching for, while vendors also stand to benefit. Agent Steve Koerber commented on the blog post, saying “I had someone through one of my open homes today who had a very well organised list printed from your website”.
