Metroland Buys Canadian Portals
June 29, 2009 by Alice Allan

Four Canadian rental property portals – gottarent.com, gscrentals.com, apartmentcorner.com and 247apartments.com – have been acquired by Metroland Media Group.
Each website lists properties for rent across Canada, with gottarent.com, gscrentals.com and apartmentcorner.com offering a free search. 247apartments.com charges apartment hunters a subscription fee to access a property owner’s contact details. Selected listings are shared amongst the four websites.
Metroland Media Group publishes 97 community and daily newspapers in Ontario, and is owned by media company Torstar Corporation.
aimgroup.com reports that the former primary owners of the websites, George Cottage and Jon Russo, will join Metroland to oversee the transition. “Through the power of Torstar Corporation and its subsidiaries gottarent.com will provide even more qualified renter leads while reaching an entirely new audience of renters,” Russo is quoted as saying.
