US real estate marketplace zillow.com’s staff numbers are returning to pre-lay off levels, according to a report on bizjournals.com.

In October last year, the company laid off 40 staff members, citing the effects of the global economic downturn. The bizjournals.com report states that zillow.com now employs 140 people, which is just below the number working for the website before October 2008.

The zillow.com jobs page currently lists four staff vacancies in its business, finance, test/quality assurance and sales sections.

The increase in staff numbers is in line with the website’s growing audience. zillow.com reported 8.8 million unique visitors for March 2009, an increase of 71 percent from the previous year. There was a slight drop off during April, with the website reporting 8.5 million unique visitors. zillow.com ranked third in the Hitwise rankings for US real estate websites in March 2009.

Chief Operating Officer Spencer Rascoff told techflash.com that zillow.com’s advertising revenues are also growing steadily.

In fact, chief operating officer Spencer Rascoff was so optimistic about zillow.com's audience figures he told businessinsider.com that the website was "closing fast" on realtor.com, and that he hopes to be able to confirm zillow.com's place at the top of the US market “within short order”. ...

  4. zillow.com Not on Top

On Friday, we drew attention to zillow.com’s announcement, based on comScore figures, that it had received more unique visitors in November than realtor.com. Now, zillow.com has retracted its statement, saying the comScore data may not be correct. “After discussions with comScore, it appears that the comScore data we cite below may be unreliable and it includes a different approach to Zillow’s measurement than other sites,” zillow.com’s updated blog post explains....

  5. zillow.com Co-Brands With Newspapers
