Australia’s number two ranked property portal, the Fairfax owned domain.com.au, has launched a new “sold” section on its website.

In an email to customers, the company said:

“Our new SOLD section will allow you to search sold properties in your suburb of interest. You can now search and view what price properties sold for, when they were sold and whether they sold by auction or private treaty.”

The sold section allows users to:

  • View search results as a list or on a map
  • Refine their sold search results using Domain’s new search functionality
  • View sold properties using Google Street View
  • View recent sales from the Search Results Page and the Property Details Page
  • Access demographic and price trends for suburbs
  • Contact the agent who sold the property
  • Track the sales record of agents

When propertyportalwatch.com checked, an extemely large proportion of the sold listings said “price witheld”. We can only hope this will change as time goes by, or users will continue to search for the results in more traditional places like the Fairfax newspapers.

The reason why so many properties has “price witheld” is that the vendors have instructed the agents that the sale price is not for publication. It has nothing to do with domain.com.au given that what they report is totally based on the data provided from the selling agent.
