Oodle’s Powerful Partnerships

March 5, 2009 by Emma Sorensen

The Oodle family of classifieds websites, which includes oodle.com and oodle.co.uk, is powering ahead with key partnerships.

Late last year we reported that classifieds website oodle.com had been selected to power Facebook’s Marketplace, a move that many hoped would see social media working harder for classifieds. oodle.com’s task was to further develop the application and integrate it into Facebook – and they’ve just gone live with the first phase of it.

It is currently free-to-list on Facebook Marketplace but phase one of the Oodle service focuses on goods for sale or exchange, so there are not yet any property or jobs listings, and many speculate that these may involve payment once released.

You can see it in action at facebook.com/marketplace and a read a comprehensive review on CNET’s Webware.

This week Oodle’s UK arm, oodle.co.uk, also announced a deal with adtrader.co.uk, part of the Trader Media Group (jointly owned by Guardian Media Group and Apax Partners), which will see oodle.co.uk enhancing its online offerings.

The company says the new partnership expands adtrader.co.uk’s search results by enabling adtrader.co.uk users to search the website and view results from ooodle.co.uk’s search index, as well as results from adtrader.co.uk’s existing advertisers.

adtrader.co.uk was given a makeover in December 2008. The website generates over 5 million searches every month across all major classifieds categories, and claims to have over 400,000 registered users and more than 495,000 unique consumers every month. The print version of AdTrader is the largest circulation classifieds newspaper at 100,000 copies per week in 11 regional editions.

Sarah Mahony, Online Sales Manager for adtrader.co.uk, commented: “The partnership with oodle.co.uk is part of our refreshed adtrader.co.uk website, which is providing agencies and their clients with a fresher environment for advertising. adtrader is a great product which enables users to buy and sell almost anything.”

Earlier this year oodle.co.uk also announced a partnership that will see its property listings displayed on tntonline.co.uk, the online offering of TNT magazine, aimed at Australians, New Zealanders, and South Africans living in the UK.

Since its launch in 2006, the Oodle UK network has grown rapidly and delivers over 3,000,000 monthly referrals to its content partners. The Oodle UK Network also powers classifieds for leading brands, including The Sun Newspaper, The Daily Star, Magic Radio and Everyclick.
