Developments at domain.com.au
March 2, 2009 by Emma Sorensen

Australia’s number two property portal, domain.com.au, has issued a challenge to market leader realestate.com.au by launching new search functionality and a new agent reported data platform.
The new search function finally incorporates Web 2.0 technology and will no doubt be welcomed by agents and home hunters. Users are able to refine their search on the same page, which continually reloads, reflecting the search modifications.
Agents will particularly welcome the agent reported data platform changes. domain.com.au already distributes and syndicates sales data to a range of media channels. But now agents subscribing to domain.com.au will have free access to a wealth of information including advertised sales and rental history plus agent reported sales results. Not only is this a valuable resource for agents, it gives sold properties increased exposure across various sections of domain.com.au and several of the Fairfax Media newspapers and websites.
When searching on Domain Property Data, agents will be able to view sales data on price, sale type, as well as key details on the property type. They will also be able to search a property’s advertised sales and rental history and see historical agent reported sales data for the property. Agents can opt to receive a weekly email containing agent reported sales in their key markets.
Domain Property Data will only be available to agents who subscribe to domain.com.au and/or report their sales results, but is not available in Western Australia.
domain.com.au is part of Fairfax Digital Australia, owned by Fairfax Media. Fairfax Media released its half year results last week, revealing a nett loss overall, but a growth in its online holdings.
