trulia.com Property Comparison Function

February 25, 2009 by Emma Sorensen

US property search engine trulia.com has launched CompareIt!, allowing properties on trulia.com to be compared.

The new functionality allows a quick snapshot comparison of up to five properties selected by trulia.com’s home searchers and other users. The properties details are displayed side by side in a grid for easy reference, allowing the selected listings to be compared on criteria such as price, bedrooms, price per square foot, number of days the listing has been on trulia.com, the broker, neighbourhood, and other property details.

It’s a great way to prioritise and digest the masses of data provided in property listings, and work out the similarities and points of difference between properties. It will no doubt assist the shortlisting and decision making process for users.

As Jim Reppond comments in a video posting reply on the search engine’s blog announcement, trulia.com’s CompareIt! is reminiscent of similar functionality available on condocompare.com, a web site for researching, buying and selling condominiums.

The new functionality was also discussed in a TV interview with trulia.com’s CEO, Pete Flint on CBS 5 News.
