Rightmove Overseas Cuts Rates

globaledge.co.uk have brought to our attention some good news for agents who advertise on Rightmove Overseas.
Rightmove Overseas has brought in a new pricing structure, and for some lucky agents this will mean prices may drop by around 50%. Prices start from £75 per month.
The flexible rate card is the first initiative from Rightmove’s new Head of Overseas, Rob Wilson.
In an interesting move from the portal, agents and developers will not be required to sign on with the usual 6 month commitment contracts.
Wilson told globaledge.co.uk that longer term subscriptions work in a positive climate, but the game has now changed, so Rightmove Overseas is adapting.
The rates use a “price calculation engine” to take into account popularity of listing detinations, with popular areas commanding a 40% premium, whereas agents promoting listings in less popular locations will receive a 20% reduction. Discounts also apply for longer commitments and early payment.
With the good news about the price changes come with a word of caution: while many will find that their fees drop, some may find them rise, particularly those listing large volumes in certain destinations that are still popular (Cyprus and Bulgaria included).

If I paid for my UK estate agency to list on Rightmove it would annoy me to know that international property agents are getting deals. They were talking about listing overseas private sales as well – not much loyalty then for their UK agents.
The other interesting point in the Global Edge press release is that Rightmove have a team of 10 sales people selling the international section of the site – 10? what can they all be doing in this market. Maybe if there were fewer staff the prices could come down?
