globrix Takes On Europe and Sth America

November 19, 2008 by Emma Sorensen

UK based property search engine globrix.com is set to take on new markets further afield in the new year.

The news was broken earlier this week on Global Edge, who write “globrix.com is preparing an assault on the domestic property markets of Continental Europe, USA and Central and South America”.

Murmurs of a possible globrix.com expansion have been circulating for some time, with globrix.com Chief Technical Officer, Ian Parry, announcing last month that the company would attack the US market in early 2009.

The latest Global Edge report shows that this is just the tip of the iceberg. They state:

“Founder Daniel Lee is reticent to name the countries he expects to launch in first, so as not to put unnecessary pressure on his partners, but he says the USA is “3rd of 4th on the list” with countries “closer to home” coming on stream first.“

While no formal announcement about which European and South or Central American countries will be next has been made, the Global Edge report says the company is in “advanced stages of development in several countries and is in discussions with potential partners in many others”.

Spain, France and Italy are listed as likely targets, giving the search engine the opportunity to test its unique language translation software.

    Help me out here
Surely the business model of these screenscraping operations is not sustainable?
If I was a Leading portal owner I would be using new technologies to block these companies?

Yes I wonder which Central American countries and how they will navigate markets where agents tend not to have exclusives. We’ve just launched a directory site of real estate developments and property hotspots to try and add some price transparency to the central american market place.
