EdenWay Network Joins Portals

Germany’s leading property portal, immobilienscout24.de, is just one of the latest additions to the EdenWay Network. The EdenWay Network consists of a group of portals in Europe whose property listings are connected via the EdenWay Engine, making them available on each other’s websites.

The EdenWay Network is run by the small French technology company BeezBeez. They say that connecting a website to the EdenWay network extends the possibilities in terms of database and audience. The network operates by making one website’s content or services visible on another, and vice versa.

So for property portals, paying one set price means property listings can be advertised throughout Europe, and ads are translated into the relevant language.

One of the main appeals for portals and agents is increased traffic to the listings, and the ability to attract buyers or renters from other countries. There is no data duplication, and no loss of visitor traffic.

BeezBeez began working on the idea of a network connecting websites in March 2005, and originally launched the technology to dating websites. In June of this year the real estate pilot began with 5 websites.

As of October 2008 the network had signed up 13 Real Estate websites as partners of the EdenWay Network, from 12 countries.

The following real-estate portals are currently connected via the EdenWay network: immobilienscout24.de (Germany), ximmo.be (Belgium), arkadia.com and proapart.com (France), nethouseprices.com (UK), immobiliare.it (Italy), realestatecroatia.com (Croatia), immostar.lu (Luxembourg), huislijn.nl (Netherlands), yaencontre.com (Spain), realitymix.cz (Czech), oferty.net (Poland), and ingatlan.com (Hungary).

BeezBeez is setting its sights high, and targeting all classified markets, social networks and ecommerce brands.

The team at Classified Ad Ventures (owner of Property Portal Watch) has scoured the world and put together its list of the top 25 revenue generating property portal sites. The top five sites are all market leaders, all generating over US$100m per year, and all very profitable. The highest revenue generating site is immoscout24.de in Germany followed closely by realtor.com in the US.
