daft.ie Still Ireland’s Number 1

November 12, 2008 by Emma Sorensen

Ireland’s oldest and biggest property website, daft.ie, has released ABC electronic audit figures that show it’s still the number one destination for house buyers and renters in Ireland.

In fact it is the most visited website overall for Ireland, coming ahead of carzone.ie, RTE.ie, Eircom.net, and MyHome.ie (the only other portal), who make up the top 5. Ireland.com came in number 6, and propertynews.com number 8.

The audit showed a 35% increase in traffic to daft.ie since this time last year, with 85 million page impressions from 1,025,838 unique browsers. This is up from the last ABC audit figures in April 2008 which showed traffic of 75 million page impressions and 974,595 unique users.

Anne Marie Boyhan, Marketing Manager at Daft.ie said:

“In the past year we have significantly increased our lead in online real estate. In the month of September we had 5 times the number of property listings than our nearest competitor, and we delivered 59 million more page views”

“Given the state of the property market at the moment, these figures should provide some relief to house sellers. However, it could be some time before all this latent demand translates into actual transactions.”

daft.ie was founded in 1997 and, despite the name, daft.ie is right on the game. Approximately 9 out of every 10 properties for sale in Ireland are advertised on the company’s website and in 2007 over €60 billion worth of Irish property was listed on the site and over €1.1 billion in rent was collected.

    Hi Anne Marie,

Are you able to give us a better break down of those UBs across your different channels (Sales, New Homes, Lettings, Sharings etc.)? It would be interesting to understand how these different channels are being affected at this time.
