propertylive.co.uk Still Not Live
October 21, 2008 by Emma Sorensen
It’s becoming old news that propertyLive.co.uk is still not live.
The idea of the National Federation of Property Professionals (NFOPP), propertylive.co.uk is supposed to showcase UK commercial and residential property from around 13,000 estate agents, all of whom are members of a professional body under the NFOPP umbrella (eg: the NAEA). These agents will be able to place their listings for free.
The main question is whether the new site will present any competition to the UK’s existing Big 4. (See our opinion piece, What Is All The Fuss About?)
The NFOPP originally revealed plans for the site in August. Murmurs that it would be launched in September turned out to be untrue. With October almost over, still nothing more than an annoying pink holding page with a larger than life pin-stripe besuited real estate agent exists at their web address.
Last Monday zoomf.com reported that propertylive.co.uk was having troubles with their webservers, and published a screenshot.
Like most of us, zoomf.com had probably poured themselves a drink and settled in for a late night, hoping the web address would spring to life at midnight. After all, that’s what propertylive.co.uk suggested would happen when they issued a memo to the property press saying the site would be live on Tuesday 14 October.
On Wednesday zoomf.com published a part-broken screengrab of the new site, but the site was still not functioning, and has since vanished as they no doubt try to finalise it.
Last Thursday theratandmouse.co.uk reported on a message from the NAEA to members saying the portal would be delivered on time at the end of the week, and that they’d had 2,500 office applications (a fraction of the 13,000 offices in the UK).
On Friday the website still wasn’t live. Estate Agent Today ran an article on the apparently confusing demonstration of the new portal at the Agency Expo, where attendees were shown a sample website. Estate Agent Today also reported that many were speculating the launch budget of £250,000 was inadequate to get such a portal operational with the benefits that had been promised.
To complicate matters, propertylive.me another portal site with a very similar name but no industry affiliations continues to operate, despite some agents like Frank Knight pulling their listings down.
There’s clearly a lot of anticipation and interest in the new site’s arrival. propertylive.co.uk’s holding page still says it’s “coming soon”, but we wouldn’t suggest you hold your breath. November now seems more likely.

Propertylive.me bears an uncanny resemblence to what appears to their primary site at homehunter.co.uk. The propertylive.me domain was registered 15-Sep-2008 (homehunter.co.uk in 1996), so one wonders whether some brand piggy backing is going on?
I also found that the London map at http://www.propertylive.me/london_map.php is identical to the map on another site http://www.net-lettings.co.uk/ although I’m not sure that the two sites are related.
